Sanatorium

     During my stay at Kombinat art residency in Leipzig I was working on a series of sketches and big works as a visual reflection on Beelitz Heilstätten. These artworks are inspired by the ruins of the sanatorium and the chaos of plants inside of them. The large painting was my attempt to visualise this trapped chaos as if observing it through an x-ray lens, revealing the buildings' internal "breath" and scars from the passage of time.

     Through exploring Beelitz Heilstatten I want to create a dialogue between the past and the present, reflecting on the role of time in healing the wounds of catastrophic events. This project is in progress.
